Istanbul in Two Days

Is two days enough for Istanbul?
For the old city, yes: the four Sultanahmet monuments, Topkapı, both bazaars and a boat. What two days cannot include is Dolmabahçe, the Princes' Islands or the Asian side beyond dinner.
What if one of my days is a Tuesday?
Topkapı closes on Tuesdays. Put the Hagia Sophia day on the Tuesday and the palace on the other day; nothing else on this route has a weekly closure except the Grand Bazaar on Sundays.
Should I buy the Museum Pass for two days?
No. It costs €105, runs five days, and covers neither the Hagia Sophia nor Topkapı — the two tickets this itinerary actually buys. The arithmetic.
What are the do's and don'ts in Istanbul?
Do buy an İstanbulkart before your second journey; do cover shoulders, knees and hair at mosque doors; do check the day's prayer times before a mosque visit; do pay by card, since museum entrances stopped taking cash on 1 August 2025. The don'ts: don't pick up a dropped shoe-shine brush, don't accept a stranger's invitation to a specific bar, and don't get into a taxi whose meter is 'broken'.
